In this class, students will have the opportunity to learn how to create a newscast that will be broadcast during the Windsor Middle School morning announcements. Students will be able to explore the tools used in making newscasts and decide how to best implement those tools (see list below). Through experimentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving students will work to create and perfect a workflow for creating a morning news broadcast every five days. During this time, students will discover the benefits to learning the skills of communication and collaboration by being on a news team. Standards from various content areas will also be integrated as students work on their researching, writing, reading, and public speaking skills. And of course students will get the chance to use their creativity in producing news stories that will engage their audience.
